What is the Spirit of Christmas?

While the Christmas season can be stressful, it is also a time of warmth, love, family, charity and good memories.  It is a time that often brings out the best in many, a time that is often over too quickly.

Once the scattered remnants of wrapping are cleared, the leftovers are consumed and family has returned home how do we maintain the positive spirit that has engulfed us for a short period?  When the memories of peaceful music, sweet smells and sounds of laughter are gone, how can we keep the true spirit of Christmas in our hearts, mind and actions?

“Jesus is the reason for the season” is a common phrase heard at Christmas-time.  With this in mind, let us consider ways we may keep Christ in our hearts throughout the year.

This year I hope to help my family develop more Christ-like attributes by gaining knowledge of Christ’s life, ministry and teachings and to learn how to have a loving and generous heart.  To me, that is what having the Spirit of Christmas all through the year is all about.
